Technology-savvy businesses to demonstrate the competitive advantage of in-house marketing

HP Canada and the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses (CFIB) today announced the search for in-house marketing success stories from small- and mid-sized Canadian companies that have embraced technology to market their offerings and make a big impact on their business. Whether through the creation of brochures, sales documents, signage or other collateral, in-house marketing can provide a strong competitive advantage.

In celebration of the CFIB’s 35th anniversary, HP and the CFIB have expanded their two-year relationship to launch the first national “Colour of Success” contest. The contest features a grand prize of a technology marketing package comprising $10,000 worth of HP colour printing and office technology and custom agency design services.

“Building on our commitment of continual innovation in order to level the playing field for Canadian SMBs, we are pleased to collaborate with technology companies like HP Canada and Microsoft Canada to deliver this exciting opportunity to our members,” said Catherine Swift, president, CEO & Chairperson, CFIB.

“Bringing select marketing capabilities in-house can have an immediate business impact for Canadian SMBs. It can improve a company’s professional image, reduce costs and enable tailored, on-demand marketing collateral for increased control and flexibility,” said Geoff Kereliuk, vice-president, SMB Group, HP Canada. “With the launch of the “Colour of Success” contest, we look forward to hearing from Canadian businesses about the positive impact technology has made to their marketing efforts.”

The contest, open to CFIB members exclusively, launched January 2, 2006, and will run until April 30, 2006. To enter the contest, businesses must submit a 300-word entry explaining how the use of technology has helped market the businesses to gain a competitive advantage. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges from HP Canada, Microsoft Canada and CFIB.

The grand prize winner will receive a “Colour of Success” technology marketing package from HP Canada, which includes an HP Smart Office Marketing Solution featuring: an HP desktop PC and monitor, HP Color LaserJet 3800dn printer, HP Scanjet 4890 Digital Flatbed Scanner, HP Photosmart 817 Digital Camera, a variety of printing supplies and digital camera accessories, the Microsoft® Office Small Business Edition 2003, plus $5,000 in custom design agency services.
The second place winner will receive a prize package that includes: an HP Color LaserJet 3800dn printer, HP Scanjet 4890 Digital Flatbed Scanner, HP Photosmart 817 Digital Camera and Microsoft® Office Small Business Edition 2003, and a variety of printing supplies and digital camera accessories, representing a total value of approximately $3,200.

To be considered for the “Colour of Success” contest, entrants must be registered CFIB members. To become a CFIB member, please visit www.cfib.ca.
