New six-year relationship delivers scalable, reliable and secure solutions to enhance patient care MISSISSAUGA, Ont., June 1, 2005 – Hewlett-Packard (Canada) Co. today announced that Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, one of the world’s pre-eminent healthcare institutions, has selected HP Canada as its partner in a six-year information technology initiative designed to enhance the quality of patient service, care and safety. The agreement encompasses infrastructure solutions and services, including 24x7 Help Desk, email, server management, enterprise storage and backup, and full network support services, such as wireless and Internet access. HP is also providing support for desktops, printers and associated peripherals. Approximately 100 servers will be moved from Mount Sinai to an HP data centre in the greater Toronto area. The centre offers Mount Sinai enhanced infrastructure management and security, processing and storage capacity, and environmental protection. With such a comprehensive set of managed IT services, Mount Sinai is taking significant steps towards becoming an Adaptive Enterprise in which business processes are synchronized with IT to capitalize on change, says Dr. Lynn Nagle, senior vice president of Technology and Knowledge Management at Mount Sinai. “Mount Sinai is simplifying the management of its IT infrastructure and assets and increasing system utilization and availability. A number of forces are transforming healthcare in Canada, including emerging technologies, electronic health records, population demographics, healthcare funding and organizational restructuring,” said Nagle. “We recognize that the profound and long-term technology relationship we have had with HP is helping to enable us to successfully transform and adapt to this changing environment, as well as to continue to advance our vision and mission to provide our patients with the best medicine.” Mount Sinai is providing insight on its current and future plans in the delivery of healthcare services so that HP, as a trusted advisor, will be better able to develop and deploy technology solutions to support its requirements. With this level of governance, HP is able to offer considerable flexibility in the agreement and continually adapt IT services as Mount Sinai’s operational conditions change. “HP’s partnership with Mount Sinai means the hospital’s healthcare professionals, staff and researchers will be provided with IT resources, capabilities and services to efficiently, reliably and securely access medical and administrative information, documents and applications,” said Wally Hogan, vice president and managing director, Managed Services, HP Canada. “HP understands the healthcare sector and has a record of success in providing cost-effective managed IT solutions to help healthcare organizations adapt and modernize their business and technology processes.” About HP HP is a technology solutions provider to consumers, businesses and institutions globally. The company’s offerings span IT infrastructure, global services, business and home computing, and imaging and printing. For the four fiscal quarters ended April 30, 2005, HP revenue totaled $83.3 billion. More information about HP (NYSE, Nasdaq: HPQ) is available at www.hp.com.
