“One must love and live photography to be successful at it.” This is how Allan Razo best encapsulates his outlook towards a craft that he has embraced and perfected with passion to become one of the most sought after commercial advertising photographers in the country today.

Having studied interior design from the Philippine School of Interior Design, as well as professional photography in New York, Allan’s strong interest for the craft is very much evident.

After successfully venturing into the visual merchandising business, Allan moved on to professional advertising photography in 1987. Since then, he has tried out an assortment of camera brands, each one with its own line up of features.

With years of experience in photography and with all the brands of cameras he has ever handled, who’s to say that Allan hasn’t mastered the secrets and tools of the trade.

However, Allan himself modestly admits that if there’s one tool that proved quite a challenge for him, it’s the digital camera.

The onset of digital technology has revolutionized every aspect of photography, from shooting, to printing to sharing photos. Just considering the whole process of taking a photo – from adjusting the lens and flash, to having the film developed, then waiting for an hour for the prints - makes one sweat just by thinking about it.

But digital photography changed all that, and HP leverages on this technology to bring to the market its innovative line of digital products that can rouse one’s imagination and allow users to fully enjoy digital photography at its best.

Allan recounts that it was during the HP World event, held November of last year, when he first encountered this diminutive device.

“HP Philippines invited me to be a speaker during the event, to talk about basic photography as well as the HP Photosmart R707 digital camera. They gave me the camera about a month earlier so I could familiarize myself with its features and functionalities.”

Surprisingly, Allan has never used a digital camera before, so one can just imagine a likely fish-out-of-water tale waiting to be told.
“This is the first time I’ve used a digital camera. I’m more into conceptual than leisure photography, so most, if not all, the cameras I have handled are those high-end ones for commercial shoots.”

And just like any first-time user, Allan was a bit skeptical about the camera. “Honestly, I had some doubts whether a camera that small can seriously take and produce pictures that are high-quality, even just for leisure photography.” Nevertheless, curiosity got the better of Allan.

After having experienced the HP Photosmart R707 though, what does Allan have to say now, after his “trial period”?

“Actually, I was quite surprised with the whole experience,” said Allan. “First of all, I found the R707 to be very convenient. I can just pull it out from my pocket and I’m ready to shoot anything that catches my eye.”

“Plus, it didn’t take me a long time to study the camera since it is very user-friendly. There are no complicated instructions or out-of-the-way buttons, which easily helped me figure out its features,” adds Allan.

But what Allan found more remarkable is the camera’s output.

“I never thought that something so sharp can come from something so small,” quips Allan. “I read in the manual beforehand that the camera has a megapixel of 5.1, but I never really believed it until I saw the initial pictures I shot. It was truly impressive.”

With this, Allan picked up his Photosmart R707 and started a shooting frenzy that further put the camera to the test.

“I tried taking pictures of various subjects in different techniques, including landscapes, both in color and black and white. The result was very professional-looking. I even displayed the pictures during the HP World event so that others can see what I have experienced with the Photosmart R707,” affirms Allan.

And when Allan went on stage for his presentation during the HP World event, he has nothing but praises for his newfound camera buddy.

“I told the people in the audience that day that if they are going to buy a digital camera, it has to be the HP Photosmart R707. This is all they’ll ever want and need in a digicam with the same results as that processed in a professional lab. With this camera, they can never go wrong.”

With that said, Allan not only left a lasting impression but also a concrete proof that the HP Photosmart R707 is truly the real digital deal.
