PALO ALTO, Calif., April 03, 2008

HP today issued its annual Global Citizenship Report that outlines the company’s progress, as well as challenges, for fiscal year 2007.

Among the global citizenship priority areas detailed in the report are energy efficiency of products and operations, supply chain social and environmental responsibility, and product reuse and recycling as well as insights into core areas like social investment and customer privacy.

HP’s major global citizenship accomplishments in 2007 include:

  • In 2007, HP conducted 150 audits of its suppliers. The company is providing training and support to help them meet the same stringent social and environmental standards to which HP holds itself, and the suppliers are responding with great progress and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
  • Nearly three years ahead of schedule, HP has met its goal to reduce the annual energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions of its operations and products sold each year to 20 percent below 2005 levels by 2010. As part of the company’s comprehensive climate change strategy and to underscore its commitment, HP has increased its target to 25 percent below 2005 levels by 2010, and it joined the World Wildlife Fund Climate Savers programme Non-HP site in 2008.
  • HP exceeded its goal to recycle half a billion kilograms (1 billion pounds) of electronic products and supplies by the end of 2007. Now, the company has challenged itself to recover another half a billion kilograms (a cumulative 2 billion pounds) of products for reuse and recycling by the end of 2010.
  • We continue to focus on enriching the prosperity of people and communities around the world. For example, last year we invested more than €32 million ( million)1 in educational, economic development and environmental projects and other local community investments around the world. Moving forward, we will further align our investments with education, focusing on student achievement and entrepreneur success.

In addition, this year HP is disclosing its list of suppliers, making it the first major company in the technology industry to do so. HP expects this step will promote transparency and progress in raising standards in the IT industry’s supply chain and also encourage other companies to do more to advance responsibility within their own supply chains.

Where appropriate, HP’s Global Citizenship Report uses the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines as a basis for reporting. The full fiscal year 2007 Global Citizenship Report is available at www.hp.com/go/report.
