Apr. 2006 -- The eyes of the information technology world are turning to Berlin (April 25-27) for Technology at Work 2006 - HP’s biggest enterprise event of the year.

Several thousand HP customers and channel partners from Europe, Middle East and Africa are expected to attend. The event gives IT decision makers the chance to explore new ways of profiting from their investment in information technology.

“The challenge of aligning IT with business objectives can be immense but so are the rewards,” says Francesco Serafini, senior VP and managing director for HP Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Presenting innovations from HP and its leading alliance partners, Technology at Work will show how technology trends are transforming innovators into new market leaders, and in many cases, leaving old market leaders behind.

There will be keynotes from HP executives and partners, and from Nicholas Negroponte, founding chairman of MIT's Media Lab, as well as strategic and  breakout sessions. Hands-on workshops will demonstrate the latest enterprise technology from HP and its partners.

Information at work

In the old days, it was enough to back up your data, file it away, and forget about it.  In today’s competitive environment, however, businesses want to capitalise on their business information and put it to work.  They want to unlock the value of their information to improve competitiveness and create new business opportunities.

Organisations are looking for much more efficient ways to capture, manage, retain, and deliver more information to more people, often in new ways.  This is true whether those people are employees, customers, partners, or regulators.

As its name implies, Information Lifecycle Management addresses the entire “lifecycle” of information, including its storage, retention, management, access, retrieval, and delivery.  Information Lifecycle Management can help businesses to turn their data into information, turn their information into knowledge, and turn their knowledge into competitive advantage.

It’s about transforming data from passive to active, from static to dynamic.  And the businesses that are able to do this most successfully are the businesses that will win in the marketplace.

Do you comply?

Today, an organisation’s ability to access its stored information represents insight and competitive advantage.  It represents new revenue streams.  And sometimes, it means the difference between regulatory compliance and noncompliance

HP solutions can dramatically reduce operational, administrative, and storage costs. The management of customer intelligence, inventory and other digital data is vital to a business.

That is why 100 of the world’s stock and commodity exchanges – including the New York Stock Exchange – are powered by HP solutions.

Simplify IT

How is it possible to simplify IT to improve performance and deliver business value? Try IT consolidation.

For many companies, this is the first phase in a step-by-step transformation that optimises people, processes, and systems to be more efficient and effective.

IT consolidation from HP has helped DaimlerChrysler Services, the financial services arm of the Daimler Chrysler Group. HP provided DaimlerChrysler Services with a consolidation solution that included servers, storage, and HP OpenView software as well as disaster recovery and business continuity services.

The new infrastructure was implemented in only four months, reducing the number of servers from 30 to 2. As a result, DaimlerChrysler Services has seen more than a 50% performance improvement — and cost savings estimated at 700,000 euros.
