At the biggest annual IT event in Vietnam, the Vietnamese IT Forum and Computerworld Expo, HP Vietnam took out four prizes in PC World magazine's 'Best User-Friendly IT Product' award — the only company to achieve this many prizes in the 2005 competition.

Best of all, the prizes were not awarded by a panel of judges, magazine journalists, or a selection of industry peers. Rather, the four 'Golden Cups' were bestowed upon the company by the readers of PC World magazine — technology-savvy consumers who rewarded HP Vietnam for providing its customers with products renowned for their quality and reliability.

Managing Director of HP Vietnam, Mrs Tran Thi Minh Thuan, returned the complement and said that HP greatly appreciated the opportunity to listen to customers' opinions.

'HP would like to give thanks to our valuable customers who place their confidence in HP products and solutions,' she said.

'We pledge to continue to listen to our customers in order to be unceasing in our creativity and provide them with the highest quality products that are best suited to their needs.'

These recent accolades add to HP Vietnam's impressive scorecard in its anniversary year. In February this year, HP Vietnam was honored with a fourth consecutive Golden Dragon Award for best IT products and solutions. Again, winners for these coveted Awards were chosen by the general public — readers of the Vietnam Economic Times.

Pursuit of product perfection reaps rewards

Products receiving the accolades at the 'Best User-Friendly IT Product' award included HP's PDAs, laser printers, scanners and multi-function printers. In each of the categories, HP Vietnam trounced the opposition. HP's PDA almost doubled the amount of votes of second place getter O2. In the printers and scanners categories HP Vietnam captured well over half of the votes. Most impressive was its performance in the laser printers section where it tallied an impressive 58%. Its nearest rival, Canon, mustered 18%, while Epson trailed in third place on 13%.

Product managers in each of the individual categories were delighted with the results.

Mr Do Khac Cuong, Market Development Manager, Personal System Group, HP Vietnam, said: 'Our iPAQ Pocket PC is the best choice for all users, from experts to novices who want to connect directly and wirelessly to digital devices or remote services such as company data, wireless printing, to downloading music and video.'

Nguyen Thi Anh Thu, Market Development Manager, Imaging & Printing Group, HP Vietnam, added: 'As world-leading provider of monochrome and color printing solutions, and with a range of solutions to meet the demands of offices, small and medium enterprises, HP continues to meet customers' requirements.'

Attendees at the Vietnam Computerworld Expo 2005 were also given the opportunity to road-test some of HP's most advanced products, as part of the company's 'Harmonious combination: Simple products — perfect quality' expo. The expo was part of HP's sponsorship of the event, which is organised by HCM Informatics Association, IDG Vietnam and Vietnam Commercial Chamber & Industry.

From strength to strength

HP Vietnam's dominance in its tenth year is hardly surprising — at least not to the staff and management of HP Vietnam. Since 1995 the company's two service centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have grown considerably and now employ more than 70 people. In 1999, HP Vietnam became the first IT company in the country to receive the ISO 9002 certification for its customer support services.

Presenting the company's strategic vision at the Vietnamese IT Forum and Computerworld Expo, Sales and Marketing Director of HP South East Asia's Printing and Imaging Solution Group, Mr David Ong, gave an audience of industry delegates and attendees some insight into the thinking behind HP Vietnam's decade of dominance.

According to Mr Ong, the company's focus for the future is to provide consumers with hi-tech but user-friendly solutions with the aim of connecting and creating maximum efficiency.

'Technology is meaningless if it cannot contribute value to our daily lives. Thus, HP's strategy is to apply and combine cutting-edge technologies. Together with our customers' ideas and experiences, HP will launch reliable solutions to support their productivity, as well as help them discover, connect, enjoy and improve their lives,' Mr Ong said.

Managing Director, Mrs Tran Thi Minh Thuan agreed: 'Technological improvement, cooperation with partners and applications in life all represent HP's commitment to serving our clients ? with the most effective solutions and services for a better life.'

HP's Awards are a wonderful testament to the determination, creative vision and customer-centric innovation that has defined HP Vietnam over the last ten years — characteristics which look set to be hallmarks of the company in the next decade and beyond.
