The HP Design Your Personal Life celebration takes place simultaneously on the 31st of January in Athens, Dubai, Istanbul and Johannesburg. It will be the night to live out a trio of passions – music, technology, and performance.
Young people from different cultures and continents will jive via a single satellite link. It will be a global glimpse of how to reach out to the world and find inspiration.
“HP is creating a community, which could develop a life of its own, using technology,” said Jos Brenkel, Vice President and General Manager, Personal Systems Group, Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa (MEMA).
Athens, Dubai, Istanbul and Johannesburg will each elect five local bands to perform on center stage at the Design Your Personal Life event. Celebrity bands and musicians will be the opening act.
It’s up to young people in each of the four cities to define the music they want to listen to by voting for local bands in the Design Your Personal Life competition. ”HP is creating an experience on-line. Technology links people from different places and helps communities share values, cultures, designs and lifestyle," explains Issam Essadiqi, Marketing PSG Manager, MEMA.
Bands from your neighbourhood are uploading their tracks onto the site. It’s up to you now to listen to the bands and vote for your favorite song or music video.
The competition promises a lot of recognition for the winning bands and support in the next steps of their musical career. Grand prizes will vary by country.
The challenge is for young people in Athens, Dubai, Istanbul and Johannesburg to determine the music they want to listen to – music that comes from bands in their own neighbourhood, not from London or New York.
As the event will be broadcast live, people from across the region will join in with the audience to encourage their band. The event will boost local awareness of up and coming bands and HP will award the top five with HP products.
For every online vote, HP is donating one dollar to a local youth-oriented, non-profit association. Voting for the bands online is also one of the many ways in which you can win free tickets.
Design Your Personal Life combines the power of online networking, new technology and unprecedented access to live music. The event shows that young people today are not just connected; they are also citizens of the world.
